The Montana uses Kimber's legendary 84M action a reliable system that features a Mauser type claw extractor for true controlled round feeding and extraction. The 84M Montana weighs just over five lbs and features an ideal barrel length for optimal velocities. Other features include a wing safety that uses the 3-position model 70-type pattern; the first position is fire the middle position is safe and the third position locks the bolt in place.
