This week at Precise Shooter, 6/24/2016

Jim's last day is today

As many of you know, Jim's wife was transferred to a different state by her company. They are moving this weekend, and starting tomorrow, Jim will no longer be able to help you at our Lynnwood location.

Jim was a powerful force behind Seattle's shooting scene for well over a decade, and on Precise Shooter staff for almost two years. His hard work and dedication has shaped us into what we are today.

If you can, stop by and say goodbye. We are open today until 7pm.

The life after Jim will not be quite the same, but we have Ryan coming back to help with the store starting next Wednesday, so you will still see familiar faces from the very beginning of our store. And we are working on bringing another person on board shortly.

But going forward, the wall around Castle Lynnwood is Cara's. Please help her run it well!

Politics and supplies

The stupidity in Washington continued unabated this week. The fact that Democrats - who pretend to be the liberal wing in US politics - are pushing for abolishing the due process based on secret lists boggles my mind.

Liberal values are supposed to center around human rights. I would expect Democrats to fight against "no-fly lists", "terror watch lists", and all similar "lists" used to restrict rights without evidence, judicial review, or ability to challenge them. But no - they are trying to expand their use. Can someone remind me why Democrats are "liberal"?

Interestingly, typical reaction on Reddit - a community of mostly young, informed, and liberal people - is reacting very negatively to this theatre. Here is a representative thread on Bernie Sanders' forum. There is very little support for gun control there, and a lot of support for getting rid of "the lists".

The result of all these anti-gun activities is always the same: guns are flying off the shelves. We sold 2x our normal volume last week. Our distributors are sold out of almost all 30rd magazines - all the cheap ones, - as well as most cheap ammunition in 223 and 9mm is gone.

However, we were able to stock up quite well, so for the foreseeable future there will be no shortages of essential components at Precise Shooter.

Incidentally, powder, primers, bullets, and other reloading components remain available. We've even got a shipment of Winchester 231 recently. So this is a very good time to start reloading if you have not already. If you are just starting, we have a nice writeup explaining what you will need.

We also have a decent supply of budget carbines (Diamondbacks are here, DPMS Oracles are on the way from a distributor), and decent stock of Anderson receivers.

Needless to say, we are not raising our prices. If push comes to shove, we might start rationing ammunition the way we do with 22LR, but you will always have a source of reasonably priced ammunition, firearms, magazines, and other shooting supplies at Precise Shooter.
